1. Acceptance of These Terms

These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Peedhee platform ("PD", "Peedhee", "we", "us" or "our"), operated by PEEDHEE LTD, a company incorporated in England and Wales.

PD provides digital services designed to help individuals and families discover, connect, document, preserve and share their family relationships, histories, memories, experiences and digital legacy.

Our services may be made available through the PD website, mobile applications and other digital products, features or technologies operated by us (collectively, the "Service").

The Service includes, or may include, features such as:

By creating an account, accessing, browsing or otherwise using any part of the Service, you confirm that you have read, understood and agree to these Terms.

If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not access or use the Service.

2. Changes to These Terms

We may amend these Terms from time to time to reflect changes to:

Where a change materially affects your rights or obligations, we will take reasonable steps to notify you. Depending on the circumstances, this may include notification through the Service, email, an in-app message, pop-up notice or another reasonable method.

Your continued use of PD after updated Terms become effective will constitute acceptance of those Terms where permitted by applicable law.

Where applicable law requires us to obtain your express consent to a change, we will do so.

If you do not agree with a material change, you may stop using the Service and close your account in accordance with these Terms.

Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you have under applicable consumer protection law.

3. Your Privacy

Privacy is fundamental to the PD Service because the information stored on PD may concern individuals, children, deceased persons, family relationships, photographs, personal histories, communications and other potentially sensitive family information.

Our collection and use of personal data is governed by our Privacy Policy and applicable data protection legislation, including, where applicable:

5. Description of the PD Service

PD is a family-focused digital platform intended to help people preserve, organise and share family relationships, memories, histories and digital legacies.

Users may submit or create information and content including:

Collectively, these are referred to as "User Content".

PD may organise, display, connect, process or use User Content to provide features requested by users.

PD is primarily a user-contributed and family-contributed platform.

Unless expressly stated otherwise, PD does not independently verify every family relationship, historical claim, photograph, story, date, event or other item contributed by users.

Information appearing on PD should therefore not automatically be treated as an independently verified historical, genealogical, legal or official record.

6. Genealogy and Family Relationships

PD enables users to create and connect family relationships.

Genealogical information can be uncertain, incomplete, disputed or interpreted differently by different members of a family.

By contributing relationship information, you agree that you will make reasonable efforts to provide information that you genuinely believe to be accurate.

PD does not guarantee the accuracy of:

Where appropriate, PD may provide mechanisms for correcting, challenging, reporting or requesting changes to information.

PD may also introduce features allowing users or family administrators to distinguish between information that is:

7. Maternal and Paternal Family Rights

PD is designed to allow representation of family relationships through both maternal and paternal family lines.

No user acquires exclusive ownership of the history, identity or relationships of an entire family merely because that user created a family tree, family profile or particular record first.

Different relatives may have legitimate interests in contributing information about the same person, event, family or relationship.

PD may therefore provide collaborative editing, contribution, verification, reporting and family administration mechanisms.

8. Deceased Persons and Memorial Profiles

PD allows users to preserve information, memories and stories concerning people who have died.

If you create or contribute to a deceased person's profile, you confirm that you will act respectfully and that, to the best of your knowledge, you have a legitimate family, personal or historical connection to the person or a reasonable basis for making the contribution.

A deceased person's profile may include contributions from multiple relatives.

Creating a deceased profile does not give the creator exclusive ownership of that person's identity, history, name or family relationships.

Where relatives disagree about information associated with a deceased person, PD may:

9. Age and Eligibility

PD may allow both adults and children to participate in family experiences, but different rules apply depending on age.

Adults

If you are aged 18 or over, you may create and control your own account subject to these Terms.

Users aged 16 or 17

PD may permit users aged 16 or 17 to operate an account or profile subject to applicable law, privacy safeguards and any additional protections PD considers appropriate.

Children under 16

Profiles relating to children under 16 may be created or managed through an appropriate parent, legal guardian or authorised responsible adult account.

PD may restrict a minor's ability to:

PD may introduce additional age-verification, parental-consent and child-safety measures where reasonably necessary.

The best interests, privacy and safety of children will be important considerations in the operation of features involving minors.

10. Profiles Created for Other People

PD is unusual in that one family member may create a profile relating to another person.

For example, a parent may create a profile for a child, or a grandchild may preserve memories about a deceased grandparent.

Creating a profile about another person does not mean you own that person's identity or all information relating to them.

For living adults, PD may provide mechanisms allowing the relevant person to:

11. Your Rights to Content You Upload

You should only upload User Content that you have the right or lawful authority to use.

By uploading User Content, you represent that, to the best of your knowledge:

  1. you own the content or have permission or another lawful basis to use it;
  2. uploading it does not unlawfully infringe another person's copyright, privacy, confidentiality or other rights;
  3. you have obtained appropriate permissions where reasonably required; and
  4. the content is not unlawful.

You retain ownership of the User Content that you own.

Uploading content to PD does not transfer ownership of that content to PEEDHEE LTD.

However, you grant PD a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide licence to host, store, reproduce, process, format, transmit and display your User Content solely as reasonably necessary to:

This licence continues only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Service and fulfil our legal obligations, subject to applicable retention requirements.

12. Content About Other People

Family memories frequently involve more than one person.

Before uploading photographs, videos, audio recordings, documents or personal information concerning another living person, you should consider whether you have their permission or another lawful basis for doing so.

You must not use PD to deliberately expose another person's private or confidential information without lawful justification.

A person affected by User Content may report it to PD.

We may restrict, remove or alter the visibility of content while we investigate a complaint.

13. PD Vault

PD may provide a secure digital feature known as the PD Vault.

The Vault may allow users and families to preserve:

Vault content may be subject to specific access permissions and release instructions chosen by users.

You are responsible for ensuring that your release instructions, nominated recipients and contact information remain accurate.

PD will take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect Vault information.

Important: The PD Vault is not a substitute for a legally executed will, trust, power of attorney, probate document, professional archival service, regulated financial product or professional estate-planning service. Unless expressly stated otherwise, instructions stored within PD do not themselves create legally binding testamentary instructions.

14. Future and Posthumous Messages

PD may enable users to create messages intended to be released:

PD will use reasonable efforts to deliver such content according to the instructions associated with the relevant feature.

However, delivery may depend on factors including:

PD cannot guarantee that every future or posthumous message will be delivered at a particular time or at all.

Users should not rely upon PD future messages for urgent, legal, medical, financial or emergency communications.

15. Timelines, Biographies and Family Stories

PD may allow users to create personal Timelines, biographies, autobiographies and family histories.

Such content represents the perspective of the contributing user unless otherwise stated.

Different family members may remember the same event differently.

PD does not require every family memory to represent a single agreed version of events.

Where appropriate, the Service may allow multiple people to contribute their own perspectives.

Users must not knowingly use biographies or Timelines to publish defamatory, threatening, harassing, unlawfully private or deliberately false information about another person.

16. AI-Assisted Features

PD may provide artificial-intelligence-assisted features including:

AI-generated or AI-assisted information may contain mistakes.

PD does not guarantee that AI-generated information is accurate, complete or historically correct.

AI suggestions must not be treated as proof of ancestry, biological relationships, legal relationships or historical facts.

Where AI materially generates or transforms content, PD may identify that content or provide appropriate disclosures.

17. Account Registration

Certain PD features require an account.

You agree to provide information that is reasonably accurate, current and complete.

You must not knowingly:

18. Account Security

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials.

You must take reasonable precautions to prevent unauthorised access to your account.

You should notify PD promptly if you believe:

PD may temporarily restrict an account where we reasonably believe doing so is necessary to protect users, family information or the security of the Service.

19. Family Administrators

PD may permit one or more users to act as administrators of a family or family space.

Family administrators may receive additional permissions relating to family information and membership.

Administrators must exercise those permissions responsibly.

Being a family administrator does not give a person ownership of:

PD may restrict or transfer administrative rights where necessary to resolve abuse, inactivity, death, account compromise or legitimate disputes.

20. User Conduct

You are responsible for your use of PD and for User Content you contribute.

Families sometimes disagree.

PD may receive disputes concerning:

PD may provide mechanisms to help manage such disputes but is not responsible for resolving underlying legal or family disagreements.

We may request reasonable evidence and take interim steps to protect affected users.

22. Account Closure and Deletion

You may request deletion of your Peedhee account using the account deletion functionality available within the Service.

Once you confirm an account deletion request, your account will be scheduled for permanent deletion.

Peedhee provides a 30-day grace period during which you may cancel your deletion request. If you cancel the request during this period, your account may be restored to its normal active status.

If you do not cancel the request within the 30-day grace period, Peedhee will automatically proceed with permanent account deletion without requiring any further action from you.

Following permanent deletion, you may lose access to your account and User Content associated exclusively with that account, including applicable photographs, videos, audio recordings, Timeline content, Digital Vault content and other personal content.

Certain limited records may be retained where required or permitted by applicable law, including information necessary for tax, accounting, fraud prevention, security, regulatory compliance or the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims. Such information will be retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for the relevant purpose.

Because Peedhee provides collaborative family-tree and genealogy functionality, deletion of your account does not necessarily result in deletion of family information, relationships, photographs, stories or other content independently contributed, owned or controlled by another user.

Where appropriate, Peedhee may unlink your deleted account from shared family-tree records while preserving legitimate genealogical relationships or information contributed by other family members, subject to applicable law and our Privacy Policy.

Some deleted information may remain temporarily within secure backups until those backups are overwritten or deleted in accordance with Peedhee's backup-retention procedures.

You should preserve or export any information you wish to retain before your account reaches the end of the deletion grace period.
